Medical School Admission Requirements

Although medical school admission requirements are not set in stone certainly once you start applying for entry to one you will find that they vary from school to school. Some schools you may find will place more emphasize on certain courses or topics whilst others will not.

Yet in order to gain access to any medical school there are certain courses and exams that are required and considered to be the most important of all admission requirements of most schools today.

During the initial stages each school will check out students applying for entry to their courses by looking at the courses they have already taken, what their GPA and MCAT scores are and do they meet the required level. The courses that they will want to ensure that any students have completed include the following and each one they must have studied for a minimum of one year.

1. General Biology
2. Physics including laboratory work
3. General Chemistry which includes in-organic chemistry and laboratory work
4. Organic Chemistry and again work in the laboratory
5. Calculus or Math's
6. English

As well as having spent a year studying each of the subjects mentioned above a student will also need to provide some of the following requirements to the medical school of their choice.

1. They can show that they have the intellectual as well as the personal credentials that show that they will be successful in their studying and will be able to successfully practice medicine in the future.

2. They have the aptitude for understanding biological as well as physical sciences during their years as an undergraduate. But they should not exclude being able to understand both humanities and social science also.
