In order for any student who is wishing to attend medical school and wants to apply to the best ones possible there are a number of factors that they should be taking into place. Although the medical school ranking list is of great help this is not only thing which should determine what school they should be applying to.

When it comes time to narrowing down your choices of medical schools that you wish to attend then there are certain questions that you should be asking yourself.

Firstly do the grades that you have got from high school help me to get into the medical school of my choice? If not what then must you do in order to make sure that I do?

Secondly you need to think about whether you work better in a small or large classroom? Certainly if you are someone who prefers a more personal one on one kind of training then attending a very large and prestigious school such as Harvard is not the obvious choice for you.

Thirdly are you willing to give up attending the school of your dreams because you would rather be willing to stay close to your friends and family? Certainly by attending a school that is going to provide you with more prestige may be worth the heartache involved of having to leave loved ones behind.

Are you looking for the best education possible or one which can suit your financial situation perfectly? It may well be worth your while spending some time finding out what kind of financial assistance you are likely to be able to obtain in order to achieve your goal of becoming a doctor.

You also need to consider whether the school you wish to attend will provide you with more hands on training that involves contact with patients. Or are you someone who prefers to do their training in a classroom based environment.

If you are looking at some time in the future in gaining either a Batchelor's or Master's Degree or a PhD then you need to look to see if the school you are attending offers such training facilities. If they don't then it may well mean that you need to transfer to another medical school in order to obtain these qualifications.

Certainly by looking at the medical school ranking charts a person will soon be quickly able to decide which are the best schools to apply to. However they will still need to take into consideration the points raised above in order to ensure that they get the best education as well as the best qualifications possible in order to achieve their goal and a career in medicine.
